چکیده

Three patients with the Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome were studied using His bundle recordings and programmed atrial stimulation. In two of them conduction of premature atrial depolarizations via the accessory pathway was possible when the His-Purkinje system was still refractory. The consequent conduction delay in the His-Purkinje system resulted in re-entry phenomena at the ventricular level in one case, and possibly also in another. In the third patient short runs of supraventricular tachycardia could be elicited, which were due to a longitudinal dissociation within the atrioventricular node. During these paroxysms, ventricular activation occurred over both the anomalous and the normal paths. The resulting QRS complexes resembledfusion beats as indicated by their configuration andprecedingHpotentials.

Radiofrequency catheter ablation in the treatment of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome

Introduction: Tachyarrhythmias in Wolf Parkinson White (WPW) syndrome, can be a life threatening factor. Antiarrhythmic drug therapy in this syndrome, has not been completely acceptable. Efficacy, safety and economy of Radio Frequency Catheter Ablation (RFCA) in western studies, has made it as the treatment of choice. In the present study, efficacy of RFCA in the ablation of accessory pathway...

Analysis of Re - entry Mechanisms in Three Patients with Concealed Wolff - Parkinson - White Syndrome

Three patients with recurring attacks of supraventricular tachycardia and no electrocardiographic evidence of the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW syndrome) were studied using intracardiae recordings and atrial stimulation. The findings are interpreted as evidence of a concealed WPW syndrome. In all patients there was antegrade block of the anomalous atrioventricular (A-V) pathway while retr...

Coexistence of Functional Kent and Mahaim-type

An unusual patient with Ebstein's anomaly of the tricuspid valve and the Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is presented. Ventricular pre-excitation related to conduction over both a right posterior Kent bundle and Mahaim fibers coursing from the atrioventricular node to the right ventricle. Two types of supraventricular tachycardia were demonstrable. These were due to re-entry involving antegrade ...

Electrophysiological assessment of amiodarone in treatment of resistant supraventricular arrhythmias.

Oral amiodarone has been used to treat 21 patients with various supraventricular arrhythmias; 13 had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, which was complicated by atrial fibrillation and re-entry atrioventricular tachycardia in four, and re-entry tachycardia alone in the other nine. The remaining eight patients had paroxysmal atrial fibrillation or flutter without pre-excitation. All were refractory...
